Ruella Bistro
RUELLA BISTRO
Welcome to Ruella
RUELLA was established in 1996. Located in the most charming little street in Sao Paul to be an extension of Chef Dahoui’s house where guests could have a place that make them feel like they are going to friends’house. Where every detail tells you a beautiful history, a relaxed and charming environment, a place that you can disconnect from the busy world and let be carried away by the “savoir vivre” style. We are curators of memorable journeys.
An Authorship Bistro cuisine, handmade, plural, borderless, simple but creatively tasty; a French-Brazilian base inspired menu with oriental touch produced and delivered by a passionate committed, careful team trained by herself and continuously evolving.
You are invited to join us to celebrate life with aromas, flavours, friends, love and light. We are looking forward to welcoming you!
LIVE THE LIFE
A wellness atmosphere
The chef personally took care of the lighting, the music, the uniform, the drink list, the wine list and even the service, which is done by a committed and loving staff trained by her. “The idea was for everyone to feel comfortable and to consume excellent artisan cuisine with ingredients from small local producers,” she recalls.
RUELLA BISTRO HISTORY
The year was 1996. After a season of great learning in France, Danielle Dahoui was back in Brazil. She settled in Sao Paulo and did not wait for the opportunity to knock on her door, but went after her. She found an investor and, in Vila Olimpia, a ruined house in a small street that only she saw potential, hence the name: Ruella. There was little money and the neighborhood was unknown, but Dahoui did not listen to all who said it would not work.
Entrepreneurial and always at the forefront, she dodged the fact that it was very rare to have a woman who took care of the entire restaurant alone and went overcomig the obstacles. She faced the challenge of renovating the property and decorating it as if it were the extension of her own home, with furniture and pieces brought from Recife, Bahia, Lilly, Paris, Sao Paulo, decorative objects recycled by her, collages of her photos by Europe.
The chef personally took care of the lighting, the music, the uniform, the drink list, the wine list and even the service, which is done by a committed and loving staff trained by her. “The idea was for everyone to feel comfortable and to consume excellent artisan cuisine with ingredients from small local producers,” he recalls.
The investment in the prepared products and the presentation of the dishes gave birth to the bistro gastronomy of authorship: plural, without borders, tasty and simple; a french-brazilian based cuisine with oriental touches. In the restaurant, the change is constant, Dahoui always likes to innovate; but it is on the menu that the tradition and the soul of the business meet: to this day 70% of the dishes remain those created at the time of the inauguration of Ruella. “Succeeding is easy, it’s hard to stay cool for so many years.”
After 23 years, Ruella continues to reflect its chef’s story: her travels around the world, her passion for good food and good music, the art of welcoming. Their way of seeing life is also naturally impressed in the daily life of the restaurant, either by engaging in sustainable gastronomy, attenuating the impact its activity has on nature, or by social concern about the life and development of its restaurant’s employees. “Energy is crucial for food to feed not only the body but also the soul. I take care of our team as I take care of my family, ” she says. Maybe this is the perfect mix that guarantees 23 years of full house.
